New course caters for international nursing students

A group of 25 nursing students from Asian countries have begun a new three-month training course at La Trobe University’s Bendigo campus. The university has set up the course to fill a demand in the international education market. ABC News, 5 January 2010

International study leads Indian student to new home

Mr Sudipto Bhattacharya from Varanasi in India graduated from Australia’s Charles Sturt University in 2009 with a Masters of Information Technology (IT). He spent about two years as a student, living and studying at Charles Sturt University in the regional Australian city of Wagga Wagga. With his young family, Mr Bhattacharya now calls the city of Wagga Wagga home after securing local employment as an IT professional. Australia predicts drop in Indian students

The number of Indian students studying in Australia is projected to fall by about 20 percent in 2010. Australia’s Tourism Forecasting Committee (TFC) has said the students are choosing to stay away due to a series of attacks in mid-2009. BBC News, 30 December 2009

International stream on DEEWR website now live

Australian Education International (AEI) announced the release of a dedicated International section on the DEEWR website. The aim of the section is to provide overarching information on the activities and services of AEI around its role of supporting the provision in Australia of quality education for international students in a safe, open and tolerant society.
