Internet addresses get foreign language support

Technical protocols to support the extension of the internet address system to languages such as Chinese and Arabic should be finalised this year, ICANN boss Paul Twomey says. Resolution of the difficulties will mean millions of new users can come online using ‘phone books’ in their own languages, with internationalised domain names spelling the end of English-speaking domination of the world wide web. This presentation reports on a study of international student welfare in Australia and New Zealand, utilising 300 in-depth interviews across the two countries, 270 with students and 30 with university service-providing staff and policymakers from government departments.


Wikipedia scholarly survey results

In February, the Wikimedia Foundation ran a survey with support from the Public Library of Science to explore the attitudes and beliefs of the open access scientific community with regard to Wikipedia.
