The Government will establish a National Research Infrastructure Committee (NRIC) to provide strategic advice on future research infrastructure investments, including those to be funded through the Super Science Initiative. ‘Since 2007 the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy has funded large collaborative projects to support research in priority fields,’ Innovation Minister Kim Carr said.

Strategic China-Australian neuroscience program to research brain function and disease
A unique China-Australian collaboration in neuroscience has been formed between UQ’s Queensland Brain Institute (QBI) and The Institute of Biophysics (IBP), Chinese Academy of Sciences. A delegation of seven leading Chinese neuroscientists this week visited QBI to finalise arrangements for a joint research laboratory in neuroscience and cognition, which will involve more than 100 top neuroscientists working in the vital areas of brain function and cognition.
